I am sure this has been mentioned before, but we ALWAYS double-check and
triple-check our claim box before we do another claim to a publisher.
And because our check-in is completed daily, we don't have piles of
periodicals waiting to be checked in.  Again, I echo the questions of
others: why would we make work for ourselves?  We are usually so happy to
see an periodical that we've been claiming come in, we practically have a
party to celebrate!

Of course not.  Premature claims are generally first claims, not second or
third ones.  I'm not saying that publishers are never wrong, only that
libraries are not always right.  Publishers are not wrong to point out that
sometimes libraries send claims for issues that are already on the way to
them (and sometimes even already received, though not yet checked in).
