Electronic Services Librarian

The University of Maryland's Thurgood Marshall Law Library in downtown
Baltimore seeks an energetic and inventive Electronic Services Librarian
to work closely with library staff and IS professionals to develop
electronic based services and resources in a cutting edge,
multidisciplinary legal research community.  This position will play a
leadership role in creating coherent access to in-house and external
electronic resources, including locally developed digital resources, as
well as maximizing the functionality of a new integrated library system.
The library will move to a new building in June 2002.

 Requirements:  MLS from an ALA-accredited program, 2-5 years professional
experience. Experience in working with electronic resources, information
technology, and integrated library systems. Effective oral and written
communication skills. Highly desirable: Technical services experience,
knowledge of issues and trends in electronic resources cataloging,
familiarity with OCLC and with emerging metadata standards (Dublin core;
XML, etc.)

Salary and benefits: The position is a 12-month library faculty
appointment at anticipated rank of Librarian I or II. Rank and salary
commensurate with qualifications.  Comprehensive benefits. The successful
candidate will be expected to meet library and university requirements for
permanent status and promotion.
