LIBRARIAN: CATALOGING AND REFERENCE

Position Description:

The Macon State College Library is seeking to fill the position of
Cataloging and Reference librarian.  This individual will work primarily
in the Technical Services department, but will also be responsible for
providing reference services and teaching library instruction classes as
needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

� Cataloging of materials added to the library's collection, including
print, non-print, and electronic resources.
� Assist with maintenance of the online catalog
� Participates in providing reference and instruction services to library
patrons
� Maintain statistical records
� Assist in the acquisitions process through searching and verification
� Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments for collection
development activities.
� Serve as appointed on college committees
� Nights and weekend rotation required

Qualifications:

Required:
� Master's degree from ALA accredited program
� Applied knowledge of current cataloging practices, including AACR2, MARC
formats, LC classification, and LCSH.
� Experience with OCLC and with automated integrated library systems
(Endeavor preferred)
� Knowledge of online information retrieval and the use of electronic
databases.
� Attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational and computer
skills
� Ability to work collaboratively with others

Preferred:
� Experience with serials cataloging

Salary:

Salary for the position is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
