Position Title: Technical Services Software Librarian/Instructor Level
(Tenure Track)
Department: Brown-Daniel Library
Position Summary: This is a 12 month tenure track position with faculty
status that works under the direction of the Coordinator of Collection
Management. The position will perform database management for the DRA
Serials Module and manage online services in the Serials Dept. for both
electronic and print serials. This librarian will train and
troubleshoot cataloging software applications (CATME, CORC) as well as
create and maintain web services (online periodical holdings list, full
text database listing/linking) for the Collection Management Dept. The
librarian will be a liaison to two academic departments and have
collection development responsibilities.
Qualifications: MLS or equivalent degree from ALA accredited
institution. At least two years of current professional experience with
serials or acquisitions. Familiarity with cataloging software, Microsoft
desktop applications and html. Familiarity with subscription vendors.
New library school graduate may substitute very strong computer skills
for experience.
Salary Range: $28,000-$32,000

Position Summary: Responsible for cataloging of print and non-print
materials in all formats, including electronic resources. Assists with
planning, training, and maintaining the online catalog. Keeps abreast
of national standards and local policies, serves as resource person for
the paraprofessionals and student assistants. Functions in a dynamic
environment with a committment to quality services via DRA and SOLINET.
Qualifications: Requires an ALA accredited MLS degree. Strong computer
skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and
website design. Knowledge of cataloging using AACR2, MARC formats, LC
Classification, and a bibliographic utility such as OCLC and SOLINET.
Knowledge of authority control and ability to catalog websites.
Cataloging experience desirable, preferably in an academic or research
library.
Salary Range: $28,000-$32,000
