Congratulations to Marcia Tuttle on a remarkable
contribution to the history of learned publishing
and librarianship.

As an avid reader of and contributor to the Pricing
Newsletter, I was often impressed by the provocative
quality of many articles, the complxity of differing
views, and the informative record established over
a number of years. Nowhere else can one find such
a candid, organized record of the library crisis
which exploded into public view in 1989. I have no
doubt that the newsletter made it possible for many
of its readers to understand the facts and to sort
out the very considerable rhetoric generated by
academic politics.

The archive stands as a testiment to the conflicts
of librarians and publishers as partners in adversity.
