The Oct. issue of Trends in Genetics -an Elsevier Science journal
includes a
half-page announcement of an online only supplement entitled: Mouse
Models
of Human Diseases. At the head of the announcement it reads "Free with
TiG
this month:" and farther down "Access is free to TiG subscribers". (p.
562)
When I tried to access the online supplement I remembered the hoops one
has
to jump through to get to the journal site - one has to became a
Biomednet
subscriber (free but requires filling out a extensive profile). After
locating the online only supplement, and clicking on the pdf option, I
faced
an 'Institutional Subscriber' box which asked for a subscription key.
I entered our print subscriber number and got nowhere.
Has anyone else encountered this and found out whether there is any
access
for print subscribers to this journal?
I'm aware of e-pages for Pediatrics and some other journals, however,
e-pages for Pediatrics are free to non-subscribers. If indeed there is
no
access for print subscribers to the online only supplements, it would a
first for me - and certainly for many of our patrons.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
