Binding was one of my responsibilities at my previous library. Our
process was
almost completely automated by the time I left. We did binding all year
long.
When a volume was complete, and the first issue of the next volume
arrived, the
integrated system (Innovative Interfaces) automatically put that title
into an
electronic file showing it was ready to bind.
When I was ready to do a bindery shipment, I would retrieve
that electronic file and thereby know which titles to pull and ship. We
shipped approximately every 3 weeks. We held approximately 1700
periodicals
titles at that time, and bound about 1200 of them.
