Subject: dividing up serials cataloging
Hello,
Please forgive the cross-posting. We are hiring a serials librarian. How
do other people divide up serials cataloging in a small library (1500
print serial subscriptions)? In a library in which you have a Head
Cataloger (Bibliographic Control) who supervises cataloging and
maintains the online catalog, what would you recommend be the cataloging
responsibilities for a newly hired serials librarian? He or she will
take over acquisitions, control, and cataloging of serials, including
policies and methods for acquiring and controlling both print and
electronic serials. (The Bib Control Librarian has previously been doing
all of this on top of everything else.)
I am wondering in particular about annuals and monographic series, which
I think might still fall under the aegis of the Bib Control librarian.
Also wondering about cataloging of web sites, etc.
Thanks.
