Survey: Factors Affecting the Decision to Accept a Job Offer in an Academic
Library:
Many academic libraries have been experiencing challenges in recruiting
librarians. The recruitment and retention issue has risen in prominence as
evidenced by the numerous conference sessions addressing such topics and the
forming of recruitment/retention committees in academic libraries.
This leads to an interest to find out what it is exactly that libraries need
to get qualified applicants to accept a job offer. Below you will find a
survey intended to gather such information. "What Job Applicants Want" is
the informal title for this survey.
You are invited to answer to this survey if you are an academic librarian, a
librarian pursuing an academic librarian position, or a library school
student interested in academic librarianship.
The survey is available as word document and as an online form.
You can fill out the online survey or download the word file from this web
site:
http://webpages.acs.ttu.edu/sswis/survey.html. It only takes about 5-10
minutes to answer all questions.
Those downloading the word document may snail mail, fax responses or send as
an email attachment. All personal information will be kept confidential.
Summary and analysis of results will be sent to survey participants who
indicate interest on the survey form.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
