We run Jake at Boise State.  You can check our implementation at
 http://library.boisestate.edu/jake/   where we also link to "Big
Jake".  Jake is quite popular here.  We're anxious to see some more
updates in jake, but considering the cost and the fact that it is done
for love, not money.....I can't really complain.

I agree that Jake is a wonderful took, but it doesn't do everything
some commercial systems do, or that some homemade systems do, either.
I think we'll always have people
  a) doing their own thing instead of working cooperatively
  b) trying to make a buck with a needed service
Neither of those is bad, but I'm strongly in favor of working
cooperatively on things like Jake.
