The Florida International University Libraries invite applications and
nominations for the position of Associate Director for Collection
Management. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Libraries,
this senior management position is responsible for the planning and
administration of collection development and technical services for the
University Libraries.
About the University: FIU is the fastest growing unit of the State
University System of Florida and one of the most rapidly growing urban,
multi-campus comprehensive universities in the country. With an

About the Libraries: The University Libraries are housed in the Steven
and Dorothea Green Library at University Park, and in the Library
Building at the Biscayne Bay Campus. The Libraries' collections consist
of over 1,500,000 volumes and more than 9,000 journal subscriptions,
including over 2,000 journals in electronic full text. The Green
Library at University Park dominates the campus in its new 8-floor
building, designed to support state-of the art information technology.

Position Responsibilities: Provides leadership and management for all
activities associated with collection development and technical
services. Supervises through 2 department heads, Cataloging and
Resource Development, including acquisitions, serials, and preservation
functions within the Green Library. Responsible for the libraries
acquisitions budget of approximately 5 million dollars. Recommends fund
allocations and monitors resource budget execution for both libraries.
Directs collection assessment activities to ensure the most effective
expenditure of funds. Works closely with departmental faculty library
representatives to ensure the acquisition of library resources to
support academic programs.
REQUIRED: MLS from an ALA-accredited program, a minimum of 7 years
library administrative experience with successive supervisory
responsibilities, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
STRONGLY PREFERRED: Significant experience with collection development
and/or technical services in academic libraries, including budgetary
expertise.
Appointment: This is a 12-month non-tenured administrative
appointment. The salary is competitive, commensurate with experience
and qualifications, from a minimum of $65,000.
