Carrie:
This is discussed on the CONSER web site, particularly in the
CONSER CATALOGING MANUAL MODULE 31:
http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/mod31pt1.html#interim

Although the CONSER cataloging manual calls this an "interim"
guideline, if you want to see what Jean Hirons (of Library of
Congress) has proposed in terms of revision of AACR2 to accommodate
seriality, go to:

http://www.nlc-bnc.ca/jsc/ser-rep0.html
and,
http://www.nlc-bnc.ca/jsc/docs.html#seriality

This involves complicated issues which mean major changes to basic
concepts of AACR2 and needs approval by the Joint Steering Committee
for the Revision of AACR, which has members world-wide. So these
discussions are taken very seriously and move with all the speed of a
glacier ;-)

   Happy reading,

Hello all,

I know the question of what to do with e-journals,use the paper record
or wait/hunt for electronic record has been discussed before. But we
wondered if any National standards have been established on this
question? If so, what/where are they? What do others do about this?

Our cataloger noticed that some people attach the e-journal to the paper
record, while others find the electronic record. If we have the title
in both paper and electronic, we have two records. Is this the usual
procedure?

I will appreciate any ideas or procedures that are presented, we may not
use them but I will certainly discuss them with others in Technical
Services.
