Putting an arbitrary month on a record can have a consequence if you
need to
make a claim. My vendor will sometimes put their 'arbitrary' month on
the
claim to the publisher, ignoring my correct and specific date. The
result
is that I do not get that issue because they don't publish a "December"
issue...

Thanks to those who replied to my post regarding the problems with our
quarterly seasonal titles. One respondent asked me to share with the
list and I'll summarize what I have learned.
The consensus is that seasonal check-in is "virtually useless". All
those who responded simply check the issues in with v:n and an arbitrary
month to indicate the season. And after much thought, I think that's
what we'll do, too.
Next month we're having vendors give demos and DRA will show us TAOS.
It will be interesting to see if seasonal check-in works on their new
product.
Happy Monday!!
