RIT's Wallace Library seeks a service-oriented librarian to join a team
of dedicated individuals in providing access to print and electronic
collections, and investigating and applying new approaches to
description, subject analysis, and classification in the electronic
environment of a complex, dynamic academic library.
Qualifications--required: ALA-accredited MLS degree, with one to three
year's post-MLS cataloging experience. Knowledge of trends in access to
digital information and emerging metadata standards. Prior experience
with an integrated library system and bibliographic utility (Innovative
Interfaces, OCLC preferred). Experience in using microcomputer
applications in a cataloging environment and experience in using the
Internet. Must be a self-directed, innovative and flexible team player,
able to meet goals, with excellent interpersonal, analytical, written,
verbal, and organizational skills.
Qualifications--desired: At least three years post-MLS cataloging
experience, and in-depth knowledge of AACR2-R, LCRIs, LSCH, LC
Classification, USMARC formats, and authority control concepts and
procedures within an academic, large public or special library setting.
Extensive experience with an integrated library system and bibliographic
utility (Innovative Interfaces, OCLC preferred). Experience with OCLC's
Cataloging MicroEnhancer software, CORC, and PromptCat service.
Familiarity with HTML, EAD, and/or XML preferred.
Salary and Benefits: 40's, commensurate with experience. Excellent

Job Setting: Dynamic academic library with a great staff of 45 at a
progressive, technical university in upstate New York. Library services
approximately 14,600 students and 2,400 faculty/staff, maintains
approximately 400,000 volumes and over 150 electronic databases. Visit
