Subject: cataloging at a distance, please help, second try
Dear Cataloger,
(Please forgive bad http address that I sent first, that asked for a
password! Sorry)
Please help us with a research project. We are investigating how
workflow is affected when professional catalogers move to a remote site,
rather than being in close proximity to their libraries' collections.
The opinions of individual catalogers are very important to the
project. All information and experiences provided will be kept
confidential.
Description of Project
The Technical Services Division of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Libraries is temporarily located at a site remote from its main
collections. With the help of this survey, we hope to discover the
impact of distance on the workflow of professional catalogers. We will
also be looking for trends in the workflow and work habits of our fellow
catalogers working at remote sites.
Who Should Participate
We welcome input from individual professional catalogers who work
for university libraries with at least one branch. We would like to hear
from catalogers who are currently working or who worked off-site within
the last five years. We invite opinions from both catalogers and
cataloging administrators.
Please feel free to forward this message to your cataloging
colleagues.
Publication
We plan to publish our research results and conclusions in a
professional journal. We hope that our findings may assist other
cataloging librarians who anticipate a move in their future.

We thank you for your interest in this project and hope you will
consider participating in our study.
