PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

*To Bind or Not to Bind: The Case for Paperbacks
Saturday, June 16 from 2-4 pm in the Hilton and Towers: Imperial Ballroom A

Conventional wisdom has always held that commercial binding is the best
treatment for paperbacks yet recent articles have questioned those
assumptions. Is there a case for delayed binding? When is it appropriate to
not bind an item? Is there a cost savings in delayed binding?

Panelists Joan Stephens (Georgia State University), Janet Gertz (Columbia),
Andrew Hart (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), and Brian Baird
(University of Kansas) will discuss their research and offer their own
perspective. Anyone responsible for monograhic binding, or who is searching
for ideas on how to stretch a tight binding budget will want to attend this
program.
