We have included our entire holdings in the Infotrac database. It poses a
problem, however, in that they don't seem to update their holdings files
often and so title changes are not readily available for updating. We
have also found many titles that are just not included in their lists.
According to our "techie", their holdings file is a DOS file as opposed to
the nice Windows environment our patrons see. I have found it very
frustrating even getting information from their Helpdesk and many times my
questions go unanswered. I am not a neophyte when it comes to computers,
but this whole system that they have totally annoys me. I'm not sure I
would again undertake inserting my holdings until they do something to
their process to make it more "user friendly" for us good folks behind the
scenes.

I was hoping others on the list might provide me with some information
about how their libraries have handed holdings information in Infotrac (or
similar) databases. Infotrac databases allow you to manually input
information about local holdings.

Do you indicate holdings information?
If so, to what extent? (Do you merely indicate ownership or do you provide
detailed holdings with locations?)
How often do you update the holdings information?
Who is responsible for doing this work? (students, paraprofessionals,
professionals)

Any information would be appreciated. If there is interest, I will
summarize responses for the list.
thanks, Erika
