We are getting approximately 2-3000 copies, but we do not use the masking
feature (we'd get more copies if we did). I know that the machine will
tell us we need to replace the toner, but we just shake the cartridge.
This gives us at least another weeks worth of copies.

Subject: toner for Minolta microform readers
This is a question for anybody who is using Minolta SP2000 microform
reader/printers. Approximately how long have your toner cartridges
lasted?
The reason I ask... We purchased our SP2000's last September. Our Minolta
dealer told us that the toner cartridges that came with the machines were
"starter" cartridges that were not going to last nearly as long as a
normal cartridge. They lasted 3-4 months (we have 4 machines, and 3
cartridges needed to be replaced within a 2-week period, 1 several weeks
later). The problem is that the first machine to run out of toner last
time is blinking that it needs toner again... and it's only 4 months or so
later! Now, we don't have a counter on our machines, so beyond anecdotal
evidence that that particular machine is the most often used, I couldn't
tell you how many print-outs we've gotten from this toner cartridge. But
i had expected it to last at least twice as long as the original
cartridge, and am now panicking about the supply costs.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Did I just get a bad toner
cartridge? Did my Minolta dealer mislead me? Any thoughts would be much
appreciated (please respond off-list, I doubt this is of broad interest).
Thanks in advance...
