   ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN Acquisitions/Serials

POSITION
Appointment to begin June 1, 2001.  This is a calendar year (twelve-month)
appointment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this librarian are acquiring serials and
other materials for the library and supervision of clerical employees in
these areas.  Coordinates collection development, prepares and manages
budget for acquisitions, plans and coordinates the operations of the
serials department, maintains master periodical holdings list,
participates as member of the Reference Librarian team, contributes to the
development of collections, and participates in faculty governance.
Reference desk coverage, including some evenings and weekends, required.

QUALIFICATIONS
MLS from ALA accredited library school required.  Some serials and
acquisitions experience preferred.  Knowledge of spreadsheet software and
word processing software required.  Excellent oral and written
communication skills and effective interpersonal skills required.
Evidence of professional development and activity is desirable.  To be
hired at the Senior Assistant Librarian level, an individual must have at
least three years of full-time library experience at least one of which
must be at the college level.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Employee benefits
