Subject: Dissent's whole numbering askew

From looking at others' OPACs it does not appear that many (any?) keep
track of the whole (consecutive) number enumeration of this title as we do,
but just in case someone else does, I thought you'd like to know what
they've said.
Correspondence below in reverse chronological order.

Dear Maxine Phillips,

Thanks for your response. Yes, this would mean no issue marked 203. The
note you plan to include with the correct numbering for the Summer 2001
issue will prove very helpful as well. I appreciate your prompt resolution
of this somewhat esoteric concern.

Sincerely,
Ann

Dear Ann Doyle,

Kira forwarded your correspondence to me, since I'm the person
responsible for our having two issues (Spring and Summer 2000) with the
same number. Thank you for calling it to our attention. Unfortunately,
the spring issue went on press yesterday, but we'll definitely correct
it in the summer issue with a note to our readers, and, more important,
the correct numbering. That would mean that summer should be 204 and
there won't be any 203? Is that correct?

Sincerely,
Maxine Phillips

Hi Kira,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.

It looks as though you continued with the numbering, Fall #200, Winter
#201. Do you plan to (please say yes) resume the previous (correct?)
numbering with Spring, as number 203? That would be lots easier for us
librarians than calling last summer 199.5.

When you let me know what your plans are, I'll post your answer to a
librarian's e-mail discussion list that covers this sort of thing to let
others know how you're handling it as well.

Thanks,
Ann

Ann,
Spring is the right one. Spring is #199 and Summer you can call #199.5 (ugh
I don't know what ells to tell you).
Sorry,
Kira
