I've been working on troublesome claims - the ones that aren't coming at
all, as though subscriptions have lapsed, and have learned a couple
things I
thought I should share.
First off, TESOL Matters will no longer be distributed to institutions,
just
individual members. We will get through 2000, but that's it.
And secondly, we all know the trials and tribulations of this sort of
project - the unreturned phone calls, the mail not forwarded from an
incorrect address (said mail being a claim with a note regarding our
renewal, the incorrect address being a different department, the
offender
being the ALA no less), the ignored emails, the requirements for obscure
numbers on removed wrappers, - I was even told at one institution, after
a
second phone call inquiring after it, that it takes 6-8 weeks to receive
an
invoice from a phoned-in request.
But I have one shining jewel to hold up, the good people at _The
Progressive_. I got a same-day response to my email, the correct
information on our subscription, which was that there was a lapse in the
subs period- and an offer to send the missing issues free. Which I
promptly
took them up on, and now I am here to report they arrived within the
week.
Bless good people who make all our jobs easier!

For him that stealeth a Book from this Library, let it change into a
serpent
in his hand and rend him. Let him be struck with Palsy, and all his
Members
blasted. Let him languish in Pain crying aloud for Mercy and let there
be
no sur-cease to his agony till he sink in Dissolution. Let Bookworms
gnaw
his Entrails in token of the Worm that dieth not, and when at last he
goeth
to his final Punishment, let the flames of Hell consume him for ever and
aye.
