Basic Serials Cataloging Workshop (2 Days)
This course was prepared by Cameron J. Campbell, University of Chicago,
for the Serials Cataloging Cooperative Training Program (SCCTP) under
the auspices of the CONSER Program. The course provides a hands on
training course for beginning original and copy catalogers,
technicians, and monograph catalogers working with print and electronic
serials. The course focuses on the elements contained in the CONSER
core record, as well as problem solving and decision-making relative to
serials cataloging. All materials are based on the CONSER Editing Guide
and CONSER Cataloging Manual.

The workshop requires the purchase of Trainee Manual (ISBN
0-8444-0991-X), a 284 page, loose-leaf document which OCLC Western will
pre-purchase for all registrants. The manual includes course content,
work forms for exercises, and additional materials, including a
bibliography and answers to the exercises. Your registration must be
submitted NO LATER THAN 30 DAYS prior to the workshop, in order to
allow time for shipment of this manual.

A $115 fee will be added to your institution's OCLC monthly invoice.
This includes a materials fee of $35, but OCLC will place your order
the Trainee Manual on your behalf.

This workshop is a Washington State clock hour offering for school
personnel.
