This is true.  However, not EVERY subscriber to these tools needs to
maintain the hard copy, just as not all of us need to maintain copies
of Apple ][ books for the historical record.  Yes, someone should keep
copies of the Apple books and someone should keep copies of the hard
copy of Ulrich's.  However, we surely don't all have to do it.

Also, a large system which may previously have received more than one
print copy of Ulrichs [etc.] now needs only one, plus the online.

Of course your argument is based upon the faith that the publishers
will continue to publish the print editions.  They may for a while,
but eventually they will go away too.
