POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Reference Services/Periodicals Librarian (Search Re-Opened):
Birmingham-Southern College seeks a creative individual to join the faculty.
Position reports to the Library Director and divides time between periodicals
and reference duties. Responsible for: management of periodicals and microfilm
collections, including acquisition, binding & collection development; and
reference work with students & faculty, including bibliographic instruction,
database searching, reference desk; other duties as required Opportunities for
team and collaborative teaching in areas of expertise. This 9-month position
works a non-traditional workweek, Sun-Th, from 1:30 to 10:00p.m. Requires: MLS
from ALA-accredited program; 2-4 years of relevant library experience; working
knowledge of basic reference, online, and periodical resources and operations;
excellent oral & written communication skills; and enthusiasm for working with
the public. Second advanced degree desirable. Salary is competitive. Excellent
benefits. The BSC Library serves 1500 students and 100 faculty, has a
collection of 225,000 volumes & 900 periodical subscriptions. Available
