Coordinator of Technical Services, McConnell Library, Radford University

The Coordinator provides creative leadership and vision for the Technical
Services Department, which consists of two library faculty and eight
support staff responsible for the ordering, receipt, cataloging, and
processing of all library materials.  Responsibilities include supervising
staff; developing and evaluating services, policies and procedures;
planning and goal-setting; preparing reports; and participating in the
library's collection development program.  Additional duties include
coordinating the allocation and expenditure of the library materials
budget and the procurement and licensing of electronic and non-print
resources. The Coordinator serves as a member of the Library
Administrative Council, and assists in the formulation of library-wide
policies and objectives, as well as in the planning, development, and
evaluation of library services and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in library/information science
from an ALA-accredited program.  Substantial professional experience in
acquisitions, serials, or cataloging, preferably in an academic library;
extensive experience in supervising staff; experience in managing budgets;
familiarity with the publishing industry; knowledge of licensing of
electronic resources; excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
excellent planning and organizational skills; familiarity with
microcomputers and automated library systems; flexibility and adaptability
to change.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is competitive and depends upon qualifications
and experience.  Comprehensive benefits, several retirement options
including TIAA-CREF, 11 paid holidays and 18 days vacation for the first
two years, 24 days thereafter.  Twelve month, non-tenured professional
faculty position.
