Electronic Publications and Serials Acquisitions Librarian, University
of North Texas Libraries. Working in a cooperative environment, plans
and implements electronic initiatives in support of distance education.
Investigates and coordinates the purchase of new electronic products.
Reviews technical specifications for electronic resources. Participates
in the planning and decision making of the Libraries' Electronic
Information Resources Committee. Works closely with the Contracts and
Development Officer in the licensing process. Responsible for oversight
of serials acquisitions and monographs receiving. Leads staff in
planning and monitoring the unit's workflow and procedures. Reports to
the Head of Technical Services and supervises the Serials & Receiving
Unit (5 staff members).
Required qualifications include a Masters' Degree in Library/Information
Science from an ALA-accredited institution, 3 years professional
experience in an academic/research library, Demonstrated skill with
software applications, including databases, spreadsheets, and Web
design; especially as utilized in data mining. Experience with
automated serials and acquisitions systems (preferably Innovative
Interfaces). Demonstrated supervisory and management experience,
training, and problem solving skills. Excellent oral and written
communications skills. Evidence of initiative, flexibility, and ability
to work creatively in a rapidly changing environment. Interest in
personal scholarly achievement and professional development.
Desired qualifications include knowledge of copyright with regard to
electronic resources; also knowledge of access strategies for electronic
publications (serials, databases, and monographs). A second, subject
Master's Degree is desirable.
Rank and Salary: Depending on previous experience, position will be
filled as Librarian II (with a minimum starting salary $34,000) or
Librarian III (with a minimum starting salary $38,000).
Librarians at UNT have faculty equivalence, 12-month contract. Usual
benefits, a choice of retirement plans, including TIAA/CREF. Texas has
no state income tax.
