The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Health Sciences and Human
Services Library invites applications for a non-tenured faculty
librarian position.

TITLE: Systems Librarian
LOCATION: Resources Management Division
SALARY: Commensurate with experience

RESPONSIBILITES: Technical support of the integrated library
system (ILS), currently DRA. Serves as principal liaison to the
vendor; plans and coordinates upgrades and enhancements to the
system as they become available; monitors and maintains the
system in collaboration with Computing and Technology Services
Department, which is responsible for the hardware and operating
system (VAX and VMS). Provides techincal support to all library
departments whose functions are dependent on the ILS, e.g.
cataloging, serials, circulation; provides training to departments as
needed; maintains documentation; provides special reports as
needed. Will serve as technical liaison to vendor and coordinator of
library conversion committee in the event of a system migration.
Serves on library-wide and university-wide committees, taskforces,
and teams. Expected to be active professionally.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

MLS from ALA accredited school. Demonstrated experience
working with an integrated library system; knowledge and
understanding of library functions and operations; experience with
MARC formats and database structures; demonstrated effective
communications skills, both verbal and written; demonstrated ability
to work independently or in teams.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Experience in an academic/health sciences library. Experience with
DRA; experience in migrating from one system to another highly
desirable. Experience with Windows NT and Microsoft applications,
specifically Access; experience with SQL; experience with HTML
and web-based systems; training experience.
