On June 23, 1999 (yes, 1999, not 2000), I received a message from my
OCLC
Network (INCOLSA) in response to my question similar to yours below.
Last
year, according to Mylte Myers at OCLC, OCLC planned to implement
Z39.71-1999. Myrtle Myers told INCOLSA " ... there will be a few
changes
that OCLC users will need to make." Myrtle was to outline the
"changes"
at the OCLC UL Users' Group Meeting at ALA (1999) as they applied to
OCLC
users and then the changes (i.e. interpretations?) were to be made
available to OCLC Networks to pass on to OCLC users. Now a year later,
I
have not read or heard any more about the "changes" to Z39.71-1999 as
implemented by OCLC.
