Subject: MARC Holdings Question
Hello everybody,
I have question concerning the latest update to
the MARC holdings standards for serials:
After the 1994 update & based on a handout from
SOLINET in 1998, we started coding the 853
field in the following way:
853 indicator #1 indicator #2 subfield 8,
subfield a, subfield b, subfield u and then
we were putting:
+v Numbering continuity (contains a one
character code that indicates whether the
enumeration has continuously incrementing
numbers or whether the numbering restarts at the
completion of a specific unit).
However, when I went out to look at the current c
USMARC Concise Holdings: Caption and Pattern
Fields (853-855), it did not show a subfield +v.
Is the subfield +v defined in the MARC 21 Format
for Holdings data, 1999 edition?
Thanks for your help with this and feel free to
reply directly to me instead of the list.
