I have received just what Lafatette College has. I heaved a big sigh,
and
changed the publication pattern back to just showing years and months.
Of
course, without numbers, you cannot tell if you have missed receiving
any.
Speaking of which, has anyone received 1998 number 27? If so, what
country
was it? Neither we nor the college library across town got that one.
The entire series is now available free on the internet. I'm about to
tape
the URL to the front of our binders which hold the paper copies. The
URL
is: http://www.state.gov/www/background-notes

After a long hiatus, my institution has received the latest batch of
State Department *Background Notes* in print. This group, however,
lacks volume and issue numbering. Based on what I've seen on the State
Department website and OCLC, there is nothing to indicate a change in
publishing practice. The last numbered issue was v. 98, no. 42. Has
anyone had problems with this publication lately or have any information
about a change?
Thanks.
