Web-based tax research services Sandra M. Barstow 20 Jan 2000 17:55 UTC

Our Accounting Department has asked our library to provide access to RIA's
web-based tax research product, for the use of accounting students. As far
as we've been able to learn so far, the access has to be via passwords. In
our policy for electronic resources we don't purchase products unless we can
provide IP access. I've tried contacting RIA's tech support people to talk
about ways around their current setup, but haven't had any luck getting them
to respond to me. Has anyone set up this product with IP access, and if so,
can you tell me who helped you at RIA? Or if you were unable to work with
RIA, were you able to achieve access through CCH or some other vendor?

Incidentally, there is an interesting article by Deborah L. Harrington in
Reference Services Review, V.27, no.4, 1999, pp. 353-363, on this very
topic.

Please reply to me directly and if I get a lot of responses I'll summarize
for the list. Thank you!
