Librarian, Serials Cataloger

Reports to: Cataloging Department Head
Summary of Job Responsibilities
Responsible for performing original and copy cataloging of serials in all
formats including electronic publications. Follows national, local system,
and in-house cataloging standards and procedures. Contributes to the
development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures,
goals, and objectives. Assists in coordinating workflow and serials
processes. Serves as the Cataloging Department coordinator for serials
cataloging and provides serials cataloging training for department staff
as needed. Assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned.
Fulfills requirements for faculty status in librarianship, scholarly
activity, and service.
Qualifications
Required: An earned MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program or
equivalent; second master's degree or equivalent; recent serials
cataloging experience; experience with original cataloging and authority
control; demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of AACR2R, LCSH
and LC classification, LCRI, and USMARC formats. Effective oral and
written communication skills.
Preferred: Two years' serials cataloging experience in an academic
library; experience in cataloging electronic publications; knowledge of
metadata; reading knowledge of at least one foreign language. Working
knowledge of OCLC and an integrated local system. Supervisory experience.
Appointment/Salary/Benefits
Appointment rank will be based on relevant experience and educational
background. The minimum annual salary for this position is $30,000. The
