Re: Switching check-in systems -advice needed Deborah Harrell 03 Jan 2000 18:26 UTC

We just went from Sirsi to Voyager. Different systems, but same scenario.

I begged and the 'powers that be' agreed to maintain Sirsi until June 30th
so that I could create all journal orders and attached records. Our open
orders did migrate to the new system (of course they have to be 'tweaked'
somewhat), but no checkin records did.

We are continuing to checkin using Sirsi as I work alphabetically through
our currently received subscriptions list. As I complete order fixing and
subscription pattern creation, we checkin that alphabetic letter in on the
new system. I haven't removed the checkins from Sirsi, because that will
be automatically done when we stop Sirsi.

I talked with other libraries that created subscription checkin 'on the
fly' before deciding to go alphabetically.
