Bobbi,

Which book scanner did you get?  We've had 2.  One is a KIC scanner, and the other is a small desk scanner.  The KIC scanner is currently down (why we have the desk scanner).  The desk scanner is awkward to use and most of us use the copier that also has a scanner function.  I think we're thinking of replacing the book scanner in the future.

Subject: [SERIALST] RE: [EXTERNAL][ALCTS-colldv] Question About Microfilm Readers/Scanners

We have purchased from Tipton Services St. Louis Mo area.

We love the View Scan products- We have a 2 and a 3 and have upgraded the 2 to a 4 if that makes sense. They were roughly $10,000 each and need a desktop computer with a special graphics card.

TOTALLY worth it!

Patrons can easily scan the film find what they want, they can crop, adjust contrast, brightness, etc. They can add annotations, highlight, etc. They can send to USB or print or email J very versatile!

We just signed the contract for a Book Scanner today and even though we are closed to the public  I cannot wait to get it here and installed.

Subject: [EXTERNAL][ALCTS-colldv] Question About Microfilm Readers/Scanners

Hello, everyone.

We are looking to possibly replace our microfilm reader/scanners. I was wondering if anyone out there has recently replaced one and is willing share information about it, specifically the model, vendor, and pricing.  Also, does the machine work well and is it easy for patrons to use? I do not want to hear from vendors at this time.

Sincerely,
