Apologies for cross-posting.
The Northwestern University Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center is seeking feedback regarding its
LCSH/MeSH subject mapping project. Since 1990, catalogers have mapped corresponding topical LCSH and MeSH authority records using MARC 750, 780, and 788 linking entry fields. This mapping data can be used to improve OPAC or repository discovery experiences,
and aid catalogers in identifying appropriate index terms across both vocabularies.
Please consider participating in a very brief (< 5 minute) survey to help us better understand current awareness and usage of the mapping data, gauge interest in project participation, and gain more insight into general subject indexing
needs of catalogers and metadata practitioners. We hope to identify new use cases for this valuable work, and possible partners to usher this project into its next phase as we work to make the mapping data more accessible to a variety of systems.
Survey participation is completely voluntary.
The survey form is available here -

Any questions regarding this survey or the mapping project should be directed to Joelen Pastva, Head of Collection Management & Metadata Services at Galter Library (joelen.pastva@northwestern.edu).
Thank you for your interest,
