Hi – I’ve found mixed results. Some vendors won’t negotiate shorter than 12 months and will instead push for super-rated renewals of 15 or 18 months. Which depending on the thing, could be fine (access fees for a perpetual access archive you’ve already laid out big $$ for). Probably depends on the reasons for the request, and evidence/information you’re willing/able to provide. Some vendors are more open to finding creative solutions than others. Good afternoon. Does anyone have experience with negotiating shortened licenses for renewal of resources? i.e. 6-9 months rather than 12? I’m interested in how well requests like that are received by vendors, impact on work flows, etc.
