The 2020 Census: The Challenges Facing Libraries
Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Description: The 2020 Census will determine how money and services are distributed for the next ten years. Libraries have always played an important part in the Census, and they will be even more important in helping every citizen
be informed and counted in the 2020 Census. For the first time citizens will be able to fill out their forms online. This webinar focuses on the importance of libraries helping reach hard-to-count communities. Statistics from ALA show that more than 24 million
citizens do not have high speed internet connection at home. Libraries are a trusted source of information in their communities for all citizens. It will be important for libraries to make sure they are informed and can accurately dispel disinformation about
the 2020 Census.
About the Presenter:
Patricia B. Ball is a manager with the Cobb County Public Library System and has been a Public Librarian for many years. She chaired the E-Government Services Subcommittee for Washington Office ALA and has served on various ALA and LITA
Committees. Patricia currently serves as a member of the ALA 2020 Census Task Force.
