ALCTS webinar: Alliances for Disasters in Cultural Response & Recovery

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.
This is part one of a two-part series titled “Building Your Disaster Networks”. These webinars are a follow up series of the ALCTS 2019 pre-conference session "Better Networking for Disasters." The series aims to provide a bridge between librarians and archivists to a community of heritage emergency responders to better coordinate in times of disasters. This webinar series was meant to tie into the now postponed American Institute for Conservation Annual Meeting session, "Alliances for Resilience: Building a Robust Network for Disaster Response."
Webinar Description: It is essential for collecting institutions to be prepared for both small emergencies and large disasters. As the effects of climate change take hold, libraries, archives, and museums can expect to feel the impact of more extreme weather events. Make sure you have the resources and connections needed to prepare for and respond to emergencies that affect your institution. Join presenter Katelin Lee to learn about resources available through the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) and the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation (FAIC). Lee will discuss networks and programs including the National Heritage Responders and Alliance for Response, which provide assistance to collecting institutions and models for improving preparedness and responding to emergencies.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to tap into networks to promote emergency preparedness; access online resources on preparedness and response; and develop local connections to other cultural institutions and emergency management.

Employees of libraries, archives, museums, and small to mid-sized cultural institutions.
Presenter:
Katelin Lee joined American Institute for Conservation (AIC) in 2015 and now serves as FAIC's Outreach Coordinator. She promotes awareness of the conservation field within the public and reaches new audiences through the Friends of Conservation program. She also manages AIC and FAIC’s social media presence. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a BA in History and Theatre and a master’s degree from New York University in Visual Culture & Costume Studies.
