Description: Interested in advocating for yourself, your department, and the profession but unsure where to start? This webinar will offer strategies for those seeking to champion for a more visible, impactful role of technical services. Examples range from ensuring efficient workflow creation to emphasizing the importance of quality MARC records to vendors. Learn how librarians specializing in metadata, acquisitions, and electronic resources effect change by fostering cross-departmental collaboration, vendor communication, and professional advocacy.

Information professionals working in acquisitions, metadata, and e-resources interested in advocating for their department, the library, and the profession.


Presenters:

Stephanie Church is an Acquisitions and Metadata Librarian at Case Western Reserve University and has over 10 years of experience in Technical Services. Her focus is primarily in acquisitions, with a specialization in vendor relations, evidence-based acquisition initiatives, collection assessment, and data visualization.


Anne Kumer is an Electronic Resources Metadata Librarian at Case Western Reserve University and has over 10 years of experience working with archival collections and taxonomy development. She collaborates with library departments to develop long-term solutions for improved metadata management and interoperability.


Shelby Stuart is an early-career Electronic Resources Librarian at Case Western Reserve University. Her responsibilities include ordering, licensing, assessing, and maintaining access to electronic resources. She has also held circulation, student supervision, and reference support roles prior to her current position.
