ALCTS webinar: Space Crunch: Tips for Downsizing a Print Collection

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.
Description: This webinar will outline the process a medium-sized special library took when the library staff was asked to drastically reduce the print collection to more effectively utilize space. A discussion of the steps that were taken and the lessons learned will be included to better prepare other libraries facing a similar challenge.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this webinar the attendees will be able to:
discern between the do’s and don’ts when it comes to reducing a library’s print collection and
effectively design and execute their own weeding projects.
Who should attend?
Collection development librarians who are responsible for managing a print collection, specifically those librarians who have been asked to drastically reduce a print collection to better utilize space.
Presenter:
Jennifer Walker is the Collection Development Librarian at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. Jennifer has been at the lab for seven years, five of which have been spent in the collection development role and the previous two years as a reference and interlibrary loan librarian. Prior to NREL, Jennifer worked in both academic and special libraries.
