Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Research Library is hiring for the following position.

The LANL Research Library seeks a forward-looking information professional to proactively develop and manage library collections.  The Library delivers essential knowledge services in support of the Laboratory’s mission to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence.  We do this by hiring highly talented personnel who deliver outstanding service.

The Acquisitions / Electronic Resources Librarian (Job# IRC76074) will be hired at either the Library Professional 1 or Library Professional 2 level, depending on skills and experience of the selected candidate. The successful candidate for the Library Professional 1 position will:

• Participate in acquisition, licensing and renewal of electronic resources.
• Support retention, renewal and purchasing decisions for electronic resources through the collection and analysis of usage data and other metrics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electronic resource access problems. Work cooperatively with library staff and institutional IT support to resolve issues.
• Provide information to customer support team about new resources, changes to existing resources and resource outages. Engage with metadata/discovery team to maintain the library’s ERM system and discovery layer, currently Ex Libris Alma and Primo.
• Engage in outreach to the Laboratory community, both learning about their work and educating them about library products and services.
• Work closely with the library’s subject liaisons and the Laboratory community to inform evidence-based collection decisions.
• Develop publisher and vendor relationships; schedule and coordinate demonstrations, trials and training with account representatives.

Additionally, the successful candidate for the Library Professional 2 position will:

• Negotiate license agreements for electronic resources
• Apply a practical working understanding of copyright and fair use as related to electronic resources
• Apply generally accepted accounting principles, in addition to industry standards, to budget workflows
