ALCTS webinar: All About Web Archiving

Date: Wednesday, August 21, 2019

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 AM Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 PM Central, and 2 PM Eastern time.

Description: Web archiving is an essential way to provide sustained,
reliable access to web content, and an increasingly vital part of
collection development and records retention. Led by a Web Archivist from
the Internet Archive, this webinar will delve both into how to use, and
create web archives, mixing discussion with live demonstration, with a
focus on metadata. Participants will explore the programmatic and technical
sides of web archiving, and leave with a deeper understanding of the
possibilities, resources, and challenges of web archiving. All skill levels
are welcomed.

Learning outcomes: To educate attendees on what web archiving is, its
practical uses and its possibilities.

Who should attend?

Those working with digital materials.

Presenter:

Jillian Lohndorf (jillian@archive.org) joined the Internet Archive as a Web
Archivist in 2016, where she supports Archive-It partners in preserving
web-based content. Previously, she worked in the Archives and Special
Collections at DePaul University and Rotary International, and as Web
Services Librarian for The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She
