Description: Web archiving is an essential way to provide sustained, reliable access to web content, and an increasingly vital part of collection development and records retention. Led by a Web Archivist from the Internet Archive, this webinar will delve both into how to use, and create web archives, mixing discussion with live demonstration, with a focus on metadata. Participants will explore the programmatic and technical sides of web archiving, and leave with a deeper understanding of the possibilities, resources, and challenges of web archiving. All skill levels are welcomed.
Learning outcomes: To educate attendees on what web archiving is, its practical uses and its possibilities.

Presenter:
Jillian Lohndorf (jillian@archive.org) joined the Internet Archive as a Web Archivist in 2016, where she supports Archive-It partners in preserving web-based content. Previously, she worked in the Archives and Special Collections at DePaul University and Rotary International, and as Web Services Librarian for The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
