Position Overview:

This exempt professional staff position conducts ongoing assessment and review of library resources in electronic format.  This position applies advanced technical knowledge to access and harvest metadata stored in multiple vendor and library systems, interprets and synthesizes findings into executive summaries, full reports, and visualizations, to be used by Library Administration and the Albertsons Library Collections Council in making collection development and budgetary decisions.  

 

This position supports patron access to library resources in print and electronic format by working with Library colleagues to ensure discoverability and accessibility, and responding to interruptions in access.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct ongoing assessment and review of library resources in electronic format.

  • In collaboration with Acquisitions & Collections managers, develop and maintain an assessment schedule to ensure systematic and rigorous evaluation of licensed, owned, and open access electronic resources in the collections of Albertsons Library.  
  • Develop and present proposals to the Collections Council on assessment criteria and reporting structures for the various categories of electronic resources. Document and implement criteria and structures.
  • Participate in unit workflows to collect, compile, organize, and analyze metadata on electronic resources in the library’s collections, from a variety of industry, bibliographic, and financial sources.  Lead special projects related to this function
  • Produce executive summaries and detailed reports, and prepare presentations for Library administration, the Collections Council, and other stakeholders on value and return on investment of these resources to support Collection Development initiatives.  Analyze collections data to improve understanding of usage, evaluate return on investment, and support decision making around selection and renewals.

Support patron access to library resources in print and electronic resources by ensuring discoverability and accessibility, and responding to interruptions in access.

  • Manage some of the library’s electronic resource collections in the OCLC Collection Manager to improve discoverability and access in the OCLC Worldcat Discovery platform.  
  • Participate in or lead projects and daily workflows to verify access to electronic resources in databases, ebook platforms, and ejournal platforms.  
  • Participate in or lead projects to provide access to electronic resources in collections by cataloging content using the Voyager Cataloging client, OCLC Connexion Client, OCLC Collection Manager, 360 Services ERM, and Worldcat Discovery.
  • Collaborate with various library units to troubleshoot problems with accessing electronic resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of library work experience.
  • One year of work experience with library specific automated systems, which may include library integrated systems, library services platforms, bibliographic utilities, electronic resources management systems, or other library content management systems.  
  • Work experience using MS Excel or Access, or equivalent software to analyze information or produce reports.
  • Documented work experience or education that demonstrates organizational and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of work experience in an academic, research, or large public library acquiring and/or providing access to resources.
  • Two years of work experience with library specific automated systems, which may include library integrated systems, library services platforms, bibliographic utilities, electronic resources management systems, or other library content management systems.  
  • Demonstrated interest in the management of online information sources in libraries.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the interoperability of library management systems.
  • Experience using a variety of library management systems to perform library collection management and technical services functions.  
  • Experience managing access to electronic library resources, such as databases, ejournals and ebooks.  
  • Ability to be self-directed to research and report on industry trends in the area of electronic resource management.
