Thank you for the advance notice Glenn.  And while I am sorry to hear your news, I appreciate learning before you close the doors. Our library has been an Absolute customer since it was founded, having previously worked with Glenn’s father, the late, great Alfred Jaeger, for back volumes and issues at the company that carried his name.  The Jaeger family were true friends of libraries and worked hard to establish a family atmosphere with their customers.  I personally experienced the welcoming and collaborative approach Mr. & Mrs. Jaeger and their sons took with customers.  I became an member of their extended family the first time I met the parents.

 

In conclusion I want to say thank you to Glenn and his family for many years of excellent service and friendship.  Best of luck with your future endeavors!

Dear Colleagues,

 

Absolute Backorder Service, Inc. is ceasing all operations by year end. After more than 22 years of supplying libraries, vendors and individuals with print journal back volumes and issues, it’s time to close. It has been a privilege to assist our clients with their collection development requirements. Absolute has re-invented itself several times by developing a multitude of new services which included disaster recovery programs, archiving, preservation and supplying comprehensive backfiles for digitization initiatives.

 

Contributions/shipments to Absolute’s East Coast Exchange Program will conclude August 31st. However, we will continue to fulfill all stock orders for the foreseeable future. Our business model is unable to sustain the reduced demand for print journals. Our sincere thanks go out  to all our library clients for their support throughout the years. We have developed many friendships and amicable business relationships around the world. I am optimistic that my experience will translate into new opportunities for future endeavors.
