Thanks Leah,
So patrons cannot request an article directly from Wiley through some ordering platform and then have Wiley notify us that a patron has requested access to an article? At which point, the staff member processes
(downloads and sends) the article. The patron must submit a request directly to the staff member? How does the patron know how to submit a request?
Do you also use Elsevier’s pre-paid transaction service, Article Choice? We do and have found it to work extremely well. The patron finds the article through our discovery service, clicks on a URL which brings
them to Elsevier’s “Order Document” page, orders the document, library staff receive an email notification, then process the request. I had hoped that Wiley’s service would work similarly. Could it?
Thanks again,

Hi Brenda,
There is an area in our Wiley administrative account Under “Article select” where we can add SuperUsers by entering their email address. They must have a personal Wiley account setup (they use their email and a password). We have a few
Library Staff accounts set up and have users contact us when they need something and we then download it for them and print it or email it to them. We also have a few “heavy user” patrons that we set up as SuperUsers by adding them in the same admin area
in our account. They know they can download unlicensed Wiley content once they are logged in to their accounts.
Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.
Best,
Leah

Hi Leah,
Thanks for responding.
Yes, I was talking about the SuperUser” setting. We tried it, but were unable to get it working properly. Could you walk me through how you set this service up for your library? And the sequence of steps undertaken
by staff once a request for an article is received? We could not get this to work at all, in spite of a multitude of emails and phone calls between Wiley and the library.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Brenda,
By unmediated, do you mean the “SuperUser” setting? Not necessarily a success for us, but this is what we use in lieu of burning through tokens too quickly via the unmediated setting. There used to be a more in between setting that we
used most of the time, that allowed users to “spend” our purchased tokens themselves if they were logged in to their personal Wiley account. With that, and with the SuperUser setting, we change to the unmediated access a month or two before our tokens are
due to expire so we don’t lose any.
I’ve considered adding notes (i.e. “please contact library staff for access”) to our A to Z list for unsubscribed titles, but know that many of our users come in through google, etc. so am not sure how effective it would be.

Subject: [SERIALST] Wiley's Article Select pay per view service
Hello Everyone,
My college library has twice attempted to use Wiley’s Article Select service for e-journal access. We attempted a mediated service first, then unmediated. The mediated service was problematic from inception, the unmediated service was completely
depleted within one month. I would love to hear if anyone has had any success in using Wiley’s
mediated Article Select service.
Thanks,
