Event: Resource Management in FOLIO: A First Look
Time: Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00AM EST / 1600 GMT
Resource Management within FOLIO is designed to support libraries in all of their selection and acquisitions needs across all print and electronic formats. Introduced in the last FOLIOForum, “The Kabalog,” FOLIO’s data model supports the intricate relationships that frequently occur in content bundled together for acquisitions purposes, as well as linking descriptive metadata, acquisitions information, and knowledge base information to avoid duplication and repetitive work. Reusable functionality to support lifecycle management will be coded into separate apps that can be plugged into any part of the system to provide a consistent user experience. Many of FOLIO’s modules will be designed to integrate with other selection and acquisitions work that may occur outside of FOLIO, from communication in emails to databases for selection.
Kristin Martin and Kristen Wilson, members of the Resource Management Special Interest Group, will provide an overview of the work done to date and an introduction to the functionality by sharing mock-ups, sketches and a prototype of work done to date.
SPEAKERS:
Kristin E. Martin, Electronic Resources Management Librarian, University of Chicago
Kristen Wilson, Associate Head, Acquisitions and Discovery, North Carolina State University
