For us, it’s tied to having a current valid e-mail and network login credentials. That’s how we exclude alumni, who are usually not part of the license agreement.
Vendors usually ask for our student FTE, but there’s a (very) few that want faculty/staff counts as well.

No. Most of our site licenses are based on FTE with accompanying faculty and staff. This does not, then, include trustees or campus volunteers, such as museum
docents. Same for ILL.
