I agree - We are keeping all of our journals that have images/art in them.  Some of the early scans were done at a much lower resolution than you see now so the original print image is superior its electronic equivalent.  We have discarded many of the journals which are text-based, though.  ARLIS/NA issued a statement suggesting retention of image-rich titles a few years ago.

I would recommend NOT weeding your art journals. Several art publications in JSTOR lack images altogether….

Subject: [SERIALST] Weeding of Print Titles in JSTOR Archives Products

Hi, everyone.

We subscribe to several of the JSTOR Archives packages and have done considerable amount of weeding of our print and microfilm based on our JSTOR Archives access.  I have been hesitant to weed anything that is an art journal or others that might have pictures, illustrations, or music in them.  Has anyone gotten a handle on how good the images present in the print journal look compared to the same in the JSTOR content?  Have any faculty at your institutions been resistant to weeding such journals from the collection?  I am going to compare some issues that have pictures, illustrations, or music and compare them, but I also wanted to get a feel for what other institutions are doing.

Sincerely,
