Dear serials experts,

Our library recently migrated from III Millennium to ExLibris’ Alma. We have opted to utilize the prediction patterns wherever possible. I’ve been becoming acquainted with setting the captions and patterns up, and have been fairly successful considering the variety of periodicities, exceptions, and descriptions that legal materials require. I’ve been consulting the following resources:

http://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd853855.html

http://loc.gov/marc/chrono_patterns.html

One area that I have been struggling with is the Enumeration A level. I have many examples of materials where there are multiple volumes or issues in a year with only one enumeration level, and they restart/repeat the following year. The documentation says that the ‡v – Numbering continuity (continous or restarts) field does not apply to the Enumeration A level. Is there a way to get volumes to restart to 1 when there is no enumeration b field?

Examples:

1)      Four volumes are published per year: v.1 (2016), v.2 (2016), v.3(2016), and v.4 (2016). In 2017, it will restart to v.1(2017) so on and so forth.

2)      Six releases are published per year (bimonthly): no.1 (2016: Jan.), no.2 (2016: Mar.), no.3 (2016:May), no.4(2016:July), no.5(2016:Sept.), no.6(2016:Nov.), it will restart to no.1 (2017:Jan.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!
