Just jumping in to say thanks for the shout out from people recommending the CUFTS resource comparison tool.

Just a quick FYI - for those that are on this list and may not have seen the same response to a similar question that appeared a while back via the ERIL-L (Electronic Resources in Libraries - email list).

The CUFTS knowledge base makes no effort to include all possible packages and offerings from all publishers and providers, but we do have the majority, as well as most of the popular full text aggregator databases from Gale, EBSCO and Proquest - and these tend to be resources used (mostly) by Canadian academic institutions as well as those being used by our own library clients.

The knowledgebase is primarily for full text link resolving and for the A-Z journal listings - so it is primarily full text. We do not add straight abstracting/indexing sources to the CUFTS knowledgebase, so you won't find SCOPUS, Web of Science, Inspec...etc...

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the CUFTS comparison tool - it does tend to cut off some results if you try to compare really, really big lists (eg, Lexis Nexis vs Factiva... for example).

As Gordon mentioned - regular updates occur monthly for those resources that need to be updated regularly such as the aggregator databases and a few others - less frequently when we don't expect a lot of changes over time - where publisher's content is relatively stable. We are in a big update mode right now to account for journal transfers. The frequency of updates also depends on where we get the data from and the quality of the data. Better data = better and more frequent updates.

Bad data = less frequent updates as it usually means staff must manually work with the data to make it suitable for use in the knowledgebase.

Indeed, we are always promoting the adoption of the KBART Recommended Practice to publishers and providers whenever we get the chance to bring it up in conversation to help with getting better quality data in all knowledgebase/link resolving services.

Several others have already answered the question, but just to chime in: I know the CUFTS lists are up to date because the staff who do much of the updating work report to me. They have a monthly schedule they follow, e.g. Ebsco lists (150+) are updated in week one, Gale lists in week two, and so on. Sometimes things get a little behind due to competing commitments at different times of the year, but on the whole they stay on top of it nicely. The staff who do the work are our former binding staff - they still do what little binding work we still have, but their major role now is maintaining title lists for the knowledge base and link resolver service we offer. It's quite an achievement (not mine, one of my predecessors in this role) that they carried out this "pivot" in their job duties.

In fairness to others also doing this kind of work, I'll point out that the great folks in Colorado also offer a title list comparison tool "Decision Support" built off the side of their Gold Rush knowledge base and link resolver. CUFTS uses those lists to host paid ERM, openurl and A-to-Z services, so
they keep their title lists fairly up to date.
For instance, they last re-uploaded EBSCO's Academic Search Complete on Jan
13, 2016.
(We're a CUFTS hosting customer.)
